Below, we briefly describe the functions of the respective parts related to the valves.
Various valves and accessories
Intake valve: The intake valve allows the air-fuel mixture required for the combustion process to enter. This mixture is drawn into the cylinder through the intake valve.
Exhaust valve: The exhaust valve facilitates the removal of exhaust gases from the cylinder during the exhaust stroke. These gases are expelled through the exhaust valve.
Rocker arms: Rocker arms are lever-like components that transfer the camshaft's movement to the valves. They ensure precise timing and open and close the valves.
Valve seals: Valve seals provide a seal around the valve stems. They prevent oil from entering the combustion chamber.
Lifters: Valve lifters (hydraulic or mechanical) maintain the correct clearance between the valves and the camshaft. They compensate for thermal expansion and contraction.
Valve guides: Valve guides are sleeves through which the valve stems move. They provide stability and guide the movement of the valves.
Valve shims: Valve shims are used with valves that require manual adjustment. They determine the correct valve clearance.
