Screwdrivers are an essential part of the workshop and are almost indispensable in a household or garage. A screwdriver ensures, as the name suggests, that a screw can be easily loosened or tightened. However, screws come in all kinds of different types, sizes and variants and therefore have all kinds of different screw heads. For this reason, there is a wide range of screwdrivers. When loosening a screw, it is important to make sure that you use the correct screwdriver. If you do not use the correct variant, this can cause the screw head to be broken. That would of course be a shame and you would rather avoid it.

At Winparts you will only find screwdrivers of the best quality. The Sonic brand will not disappoint you. Are you curious about which types of screwdrivers there are and which ones you need? Then read on.

What types of screwdrivers are there?

There are many different types of screwdrivers. You can choose from screwdrivers with a PH, flat head, PZ or torx head. In addition, you can choose to purchase a socket screwdriver or screwdriver for bits. But what does all this actually mean?

The PH and PZ screwdrivers are both equipped with a cross head. However, there is a difference between these two variants. The PH is the most commonly used cross-head screwdriver and, as the name suggests, has a cross-shaped head and is available in sizes 0 to 4. The PZ screwdriver also has a cross-head, but also has small extra protrusions that allow extra grip can be exercised. This variation is used on jug head screws that also have these extra notches. This screwdriver also has sizes 0 to 4.

The flat screwdriver is also known as the slotted screwdriver. This variant has a flat head and is therefore only suitable for screws with this slot shape.

The Torx screwdriver has the shape of a star and is only suitable for tightening or loosening Torx screws. The six-pointed star shape ensures that there is a lot of grip, which also allows more force to be exerted.

The bit screwdriver or socket screwdriver is used in combination with a bit set or socket set. These bits or sockets can be interchanged. This is of course very handy, so you always have the right size and variant at home!

Which screwdriver do I need?

When you are going to loosen screws, it is important to determine which size and variant screwdriver you should use. So look carefully at which screw head it concerns and use the correct screwdriver. For example, is it a large or small screw and does it have a PH, PZ, Torx or slotted head? If you do not use the correct screwdriver on the screw, there is a chance that you will break both. Do you want to be sure that you always have the right variant at home? Then take a look at our screwdriver kits or purchase a bit set for the bit screwdriver.
