For the professional, there are special oil drain tanks available, in which you can easily see the oil level and store oil for a longer period.

An oil drip tray or oil drain pan is very useful when you want to change your car's engine oil or replace the oil filter. These are very messy jobs. There's a good chance you'll end up covered in oil. An oil drain pan prevents the dirty oil from ending up on the floor of your garage or even polluting the environment.
